How it works

Four steps from nomination to recognition.

Each nominee uses our Net Promoter Score (NPS)-based survey to collect employee reviews. Scores are consolidated and ranked with our proprietary scoring algorithm to determine the winners of each category.

Categories and participation

A #1 and a Top 10 in Every Category

Nominees are divided into four categories: one for suppliers and three for management companies based on organization size. In each category, NAA recognizes the #1 Top Employer, along with nine additional organizations to complete the Top 10. Organizations that do not rank in the Top 10 but meet or exceed the industry benchmark will be recognized as finalists. To be eligible for recognition, a minimum share of employees must complete the survey so each organization's results are reliable enough to compare.

The survey

11 questions decide the winners.

Surveys can be completed online using any computer, tablet or smartphone and only take a few minutes to complete. Employees can answer in English or Spanish.

The method

Net Promoter Score, built for employees.

NAA’s Top Employers utilize surveys based on a Net Promoter Score (NPS) that anonymously measures employee experience. Every scored answer places an employee in one of three groups. Tap a score to see where an employee lands.

Detractors · 1–6Unhappy employees who can cause damage.
Passives · 7–8Satisfied but unenthusiastic.
Promoters · 9–10Loyal enthusiasts who can fuel growth.

A score of 9 makes this employee a Promoter:

Winners are determined using a proprietary weighted formula of employee satisfaction ratings. It is not an average or sum of all scores.

Who wins

How winners are chosen.

NAA recognizes the number one organization in each of the categories and nine other organizations as being in the top ten. Nominees whose scores are not in the top ten but surpass the industry benchmark score will be named finalists.
